Two unique spots on the temple of Judy Sudgen’s Bengal cat are the reason Toygers exist today. If you look closely, you'll see different bands of color down the length of the cat's hairs. Toygers, which is short for toy tigers, are a cross between a Bengal cat and a striped domestic cat, which is the reason for their combination of great, loving personality and killer looks. Agouti (Ticked): Most tabby cats will have agouti hairs as part of their pattern.Spotted: The Ocicat and the American bobtail are good examples of spotted tabby patterns, although some moggies will also demonstrate this color pattern.Far more of the big cats have spots: snow leopards, jaguars, cheetahs, leopards, & clouded leopards. They will have a darker color in spots running in two lines across their tummies (called "vest buttons"). Tigers are the only big cats that have stripes.

Mackerel tabbies have striped rings around their tail and legs, a "necklace" of stripes on the front of their chests, and bands of solid or broken stripes running down the sides of their bodies.

Spotted a spotted pattern is where the stripes are broken up into leopard-like spots. Mackerel a mackerel pattern is what is classically referred to as the tiger stripes. Mackerel (striped): This is by far the most common pattern, so much so that some people think it should have received the title "classic" designation. Classic the classic tabby, which is a swirl of different shades of black and gray. Many American shorthair cats demonstrate this pattern. The toyger is a breed of domestic cat, the result of breeding domestic shorthaired tabbies (beginning in the 1980s) to make them resemble a 'toy tiger', as its striped coat is reminiscent of the tigers. Just because you have a tabby cat, that doesn’t mean you have a Tiger cat. Classic: This pattern usually has whorls ending in a "target" on the side of the cat. Not All Tabbies Are Tiger Cats, But All Tiger Cats Are Tabbies.
